I found this gem in the old photo bin as Mrs. @SoxNerd and I reorganize in making preparations for GrandsonSoxNerd.

I took this picture of the scoreboard at the 1995 All-Star Game at The Ballpark in Arlington as Frank Thomas (@TheBigHurt_35), the White Sox lone rep, was introduced as the American League’s starting first baseman.

About an hour later, Frank sent the first homer in an All-Star Game by a Sox player over my head in what turned out to be his final at bat in the Mid-Summer Classic.

Frank caused a bit of a stir by leaving the game and flying back to Chicago before it was over.

However, because of the condensed schedule due to labor issues, there was a shortened All-Star break that season and the Sox had a game the next day. Frank departed Texas ASAP so he could make the next day’s game in Chicago.
