White Sox pitchers have made 47 appearances in All-Star Games.

The Sox haven’t had a right-handed pitcher appear in the Mid-Summer Classic since Jon Garland in 2005.

Here are some more nuggets about Sox pitchers in the All-Star Game:

*Left-hander Eddie Smith was the first White Sox pitcher to appear in an All-Star Game in 1941

*Early Wynn is the Sox all-time leader among pitchers with five All-Star appearances

*Billy Pierce is the Sox all-time leader among pitchers with three All-Star starts. Other Sox pitchers to start an All-Star Game: Wynn, Esteban Loaiza, Mark Buehrle and Chris Sale

*Mark Buehrle, Chris Sale, James Baldwin, Jack McDowell, Ray Herbert, Wynn and Smith have All-Star victories

*Pierce set the Sox single-game high with five strikeouts in the 1956 game

*Gary Peters fanned four of the nine batters he faced in the 1967 All-Star Game

*Pierce and Jason Bere are Sox pitchers with All-Star losses

*Wynn has surrendered a Sox-high two home runs in All-Star play while Smith, Sale, Bob Keegan, Baldwin and Gerry Staley each surrendered one.
