44 days until Opening Day, White Sox fans.

There were 44 roof shot home runs at Comiskey Park.

White Sox legend Ron Kittle is the all-time leader with seven Comiskey Park “roof landings.” 

The “Big Man From Gary” also launched the final roof shot in the park’s history of Boston’s Rob Murphy on a April 17, 1990.

That blast came 22,890 days after Babe Ruth hit the park’s first “roofer” on Aug. 16, 1927.

  1. Actually, there is still some debate as to whether Nicholson’s shot actually cleared the roof. Testimony from fans sitting in the Left Field Upper Deck claim that they heard the ball bounce on the roof.

    There is no way the ball traveled 573 feet. I have done extensive research on this. The last 10 years alone have produced only one home run over 500 feet.
